Glossary

Use this glossary when a product term is unfamiliar or two terms sound similar.

Your organization’s workspace: surveys, people, settings, branding, and results all live in it.

A group that can be granted access to released results: viewers, takers, or subscribers. Each audience is released independently.

The results tab listing invited businesses with their participation status. Admins always see the full table; what released audiences see is configurable, with email and last-activity columns hidden by default.

Optional tiers on a compensation question (e.g. Entry → Mid → Senior) so wages are reported per experience level rather than one range per occupation.

Survey status: the close date passed and takers can no longer submit. Closed does not mean anyone can see results.

The question type that collects wage ranges per occupation, the core of a wage and benefits survey.

Survey status: results have been processed and are ready for internal review and release.

Rules that show or hide a question based on earlier answers (“Show this question when…”).

The badge on each result: High confidence (answered at least twice the safe harbor threshold), Low confidence (above threshold but under twice), or Below threshold (withheld from released audiences).

A survey still in the setup wizard. Never visible to takers, and it stays a draft until explicitly launched.

A submitted response an admin flagged to leave out of results without deleting it.

Moving a running survey’s close date later. The only date change allowed after launch; closed surveys cannot be reopened.

A person added to a survey’s invite list. Once the survey launches, invitees are its survey takers.

A survey mode where adding an invitee sends no email; the admin shares the survey link through their own channels.

A secure, one-time email link that signs a taker into their survey without a password.

A team member who operates surveys: builds questions, invites takers, monitors progress, and publishes results. Cannot manage team members.

A standardized job classification (based on BLS categories) that compensation questions collect wage data against. Custom roles can be added.

A choice-question option that lets takers type their own answer. The taker chooses whether their text may be shown in released results.

A team member with full access, including team management, branding, and account settings.

The previous edition a survey is connected to. Linking enables pre-filled answers for returning takers and the Trends tab in results.

The deliberate action granting an audience access to results. Can happen immediately or be scheduled for a date; separate for viewers, takers, and subscribers.

Submitted responses divided by invitees. The dashboard flags running surveys under 40% and treats 70%+ as healthy.

Restrict results to granted respondents only

Section titled “Restrict results to granted respondents only”

A release setting: when on, takers need individual grants to see results even after a taker release.

Turning off a previously released audience’s access. Data is not deleted, and access can be re-released later.

Survey status: live within its open/close window. Takers can answer and submit; question editing is locked.

The privacy rule that withholds any question answered by fewer businesses than the survey’s threshold, so no individual company’s data can be inferred.

The minimum number of distinct businesses required before a result is shown to released audiences. Chosen at survey creation (5, 10, or 15) and fixed after launch.

Survey status: launched with an open date still in the future.

A named group of questions; sections form the taker’s navigation through the survey.

An external results viewer with a per-survey grant, typically purchased access. Subscribers see only the results they’re granted, in their own portal.

A business contact invited to answer a survey.

A reusable survey structure (sections and questions) used as a starting point in the wizard. Editing a survey never changes the shared template.

Year-over-year comparisons on the results page, available when the survey is linked to a predecessor.

A person with read-only access to released results: either the account-level role, or someone added to a specific survey’s viewer audience.

The five-step survey setup flow: Basic info → Template → Customize → Invites → Review & Launch.
